Description: This Notice of Funding Opportunity is published to solicit proposals by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, to implement the International Health Regulations (IHR) (2005) and the Global Health Security Agenda in Nigeria. Strategies and activities will achieve and show progress toward the short-term and intermediate outcomes in the five-year project period. The specific outcomes will largely depend on the strategies the recipient is eventually funded to implement and will be based on country-specific gaps or needs as outlined in the National Action Plan for Health Security. The overall objectives will be increasing Joint External Evaluation scores towards the sustainable capacity levels and strengthening the institutional ability of the NPHI to manage that capacity. The WHO Joint External Evaluation (JEE) of International Health Regulations (2005) core capacities revealed strengths and weaknesses that currently exist in preparedness and response to public health emergencies in Nigeria. This was expressed across all the 19 technical areas. The National Action Plan for Health Security (NAPHS) was developed to address these gaps and provides the guidelines and strategies for the improvement and development of Nigeria’s health security capacities. This NOFO anticipates proposals to advance the implementation of the IHR in Nigeria.
